Dr. Maziar Badii is a member of the Division of Rheumatology at the University of British Columbia, with cross appointment in the Department of Radiology. Dr. Badii has clinical and research interests in degenerative and inflammatory conditions of the hip, knee, and spine. Dr. Badii is past president of the Northwest Rheumatism Society and past director of Musculoskeletal Health at the Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare in BC.

Dr. Badii has research interest in studying new procedures in rheumatology – such as geniculate artery embolization (GAE); and new technologies ­ – including near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), wearables and smart apparel. Dr. Badii was the recipient of the 2023 Polaris Award for Innovation in Rheumatology.
