Dr. Catherine Backman – Changing Shoes: Impact of Arthritis On Self Identity and Roles at ROAR2014
One of eight videos from the Reaching Out With Arthritis Research (ROAR) 2014 event. ROAR is an interactive, educational forum where the latest research findings are presented to people with arthritis, their family members and the public.
In this video, Dr. Backman explains research on people’s experiences living with arthritis. How the impact of arthritis plays a significant role on self identity. Specifically, looking at qualitative data and exploring how metaphorical descriptions serve to effectively communicate the impact of RA on identity. How living with arthritis changes the way someone lives, selects his or her clothing and defines self-identity.
The video was produced on behalf of the Arthritis Patients Advisory Board and Arthritis Research Canada.
