Systemic Auto-Immune Rheumatic Diseases (SARDs) are six types of arthritis that are grouped together because they share symptoms, treatments and complications. Dr. Antonio Avina-Zubieta, Research Scientist with the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada explains that because each SARDs disease is rare studying them together provides a better understanding of the risks and complications associated and can improve the lives of people with SARDs.
