Dr. Codie Primeau is an Assistant Professor in the School of Physical Therapy at Western University in London, Ontario. His research focuses on improving access to care, the value of care, and care experiences, including among underserved populations – particularly 2S/LGBTQQIA+ communities – in osteoarthritis, inflammatory arthritis, chronic pain, and pelvic health conditions.
Dr. Primeau uses a multi-method approach to examine the lived experiences of both patients and providers. His work incorporates clinical outcomes, behaviour change strategies, clinical biomechanics, health economics, and the analysis of health administrative and longitudinal data to evaluate the impact of physiotherapy and surgical interventions. Central to his research is addressing access barriers and advancing equitable, affirming models of care.
In collaboration with a range of interest-holders – including individuals with lived experience, care providers, and researchers – Dr. Primeau’s research aims to co-develop inclusive and sustainable rehabilitation strategies that are grounded in the experiences of those most impacted.
