Dr. Bansback’s research aims to inform policies and practices in health through the application of decision theory. Much of his work to date has focused on informing resource allocation policy decisions through measuring and valuing public preferences, and developing decision-analytic models. His research of the cost-effectiveness of biologics in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis has informed policy in numerous countries. An emerging area of research seeks to improve decision making at the patient/physician consultation using novel decision support tools based on behavioral economic theory.
