Dr. Greidanus is an orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty interest in complex hip and knee replacement and reconstruction.  He is actively engaged in outcomes research, epidemiologic research, clinical trials, and health services research related to osteoarthritis and joint replacement procedures.

Dr. Greidanus received his Doctor of Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery specialty qualification from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta.  Following the completion of his orthopaedic surgery training in 1998 he received additional subspecialty fellowship training at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He then relocated to Boston, MA and received his Master of Public Health degree (quantitative methods for clinical research) at Harvard University. Dr. Greidanus received research fellowship funding from the McLaughlin Fellowship and the Alberta Heritage Research Fund. Dr. Greidanus joined Arthritis Research Canada and the UBC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 2000.  Dr. Greidanus is currently completing his PhD at UBC in the Department of Health Care and Epidemiology.

 

Dr. Greidanus’ main research interests include clinical research and outcomes studies related to osteoarthritis and joint replacement procedures.  He is principal investigator, co-investigator or collaborator on a number of innovative clinical studies underway at Arthritis Research Canada, VCHRI, and UBC.  He continues to serve as both internal and external grant reviewer for a number of granting agencies including the CIHR.
