Arthritis Research Canada Scientific Director and Trainee Honoured by Prestigious American College of Rheumatology Awards
November 14, 2024 (Vancouver) Arthritis Research Canada/Arthrite-recherche Canada proudly congratulates Scientific Director Dr. Diane Lacaille and Research Trainee Dr. Derin Karacabeyli, recipients of American College of Rheumatology awards at this week’s ACR Convergence 2024 in Washington, DC.
Dr. Lacaille was awarded the Excellence in Investigative Mentoring Award, which recognizes the importance of the mentor/mentee relationship in significantly influencing the successful development and career of up-and-coming rheumatologists and research scientists. This award honours Dr. Lacaille for her contributions to the rheumatology profession through outstanding and ongoing mentoring.
“At Arthritis Research Canada, we are committed to mentoring and nurturing the next generation of arthritis research scientists. This invaluable guidance equips our trainees with the skills and knowledge to excel in their respective fields.,” said Lacaille. “I am thrilled to receive this distinguished recognition by the Association of Rheumatology Professionals. Working alongside young talented individuals and watching their growth and success is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. I have been privileged to work with many extremely talented trainees. Their curiosity, enthusiasm, and accomplishments are truly inspiring! ”
Dr. Karacabeyli, an Arthritis Research Canada research trainee, was presented with the Distinguished Fellow Award, which recognizes clinical and research fellows in a rheumatology fellowship training program who have performed with distinction.
“Being a recipient of the 2024 ACR Distinguished Fellow Award is an incredible honour. I am grateful to have a wonderful network that has supported me as I have pursued my passion for research and health promotion in rheumatology. Having the opportunity to celebrate this award alongside one of my mentors, Dr. Diane Lacaille, who was recognized this year for her outstanding mentoring contributions, has been truly special.” said Dr. Karacabeyli.
