Vancouver, B.C. – (July 7, 2026) Congratulations to senior scientist Dr. Mary De Vera on her appointment as Associate Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences! The appointment recognizes her longstanding commitment to research excellence, mentorship, and graduate education.
In her new leadership role, Dr. De Vera will oversee graduate and postdoctoral programs within the Faculty, fostering an environment that supports innovation and academic success.
In addition to her role as Associate Dean, Dr. De Vera is a Senior Scientist at Arthritis Research Canada and an Associate Professor in UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. As a pharmacoepidemiologist and health services researcher, her work focuses on improving health outcomes for people living with arthritis and cancer through patient-oriented, data-driven research.
Dr. De Vera also has a strong reputation as a mentor to graduate students and early career researchers. As Associate Director of Training, she oversees the trainee network at Arthritis Research Canada and ensures that our trainees receive the support the need for their research work.
