Why do this research?

Reason For Research

Arthritis, with the pain and fatigue that comes along with it, often makes it difficult for people to perform their job. Several different questionnaires have been used to measure how arthritis impacts work performance. This study aims to find out which questionnaire best captures the impact of arthritis on a person’s ability to perform their job, so we can find out which one is the best to use in clinical studies and trials evaluating the effectiveness of medications or other interventions on a person’s ability to work.

Methodology

Execution of Research

Participants complete questionnaires at the start of the study, at 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks, and then again at 2 and 3 months. These questionnaires include questions about their productivity and/or limitations at work, and questions about their general health. Important results of the research study will be published in established medical journals or presented at meetings within the field of rheumatology research. These publications will be available upon request from the researchers involved in this study.

The study is being organized by an international team of researchers and rheumatologists working in the field of rheumatology and who are especially interested in the impact of arthritis on work.
