Double Your Gift. Build the Future of Arthritis Research
Breakthroughs start with people
Every treatment and every way of living better with arthritis began with a researcher who had the time, training and support to pursue it.
More than 6 million Canadians live with arthritis and rheumatic diseases, yet arthritis receives only 2% of research funding in Canada. And there is still so much we don’t know. Answering the questions that remain takes exceptional scientists and researchers. But short-term funding makes it difficult to keep these scientists working on the questions that matter most to people living with this disease.
The Arthritis Future Fund is how we change that.
A $4.5 million investment that lasts forever
Together with UBC, we’re establishing a permanent faculty position dedicated to clinical arthritis research. UBC’s President’s Academic Excellence Initiative will contribute $2 million. Arthritis Research Canada is raising the remaining $2.5 million, and UBC will match gifts dollar for dollar up to its $2 million commitment.
Great research begins with great mentors
For more than four decades, Dr. John Esdaile helped build Arthritis Research Canada into a leading arthritis research institute. His belief was simple: invest in people, and the discoveries follow. Through mentorship and collaboration, he helped develop generations of researchers committed to improving life for people with arthritis.
Today, Scientific Director Dr. Diane Lacaille carries that commitment forward. The Arthritis Future Fund will give the next generation of researchers the same opportunity to build on this work.
