Tips on using online health information from a patient perspective

 

Alison Hoens is a patient/consumer living with rheumatoid arthritis and a member of the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada’s (ARC) Patient Advisory Board. She is also a physical therapist and a knowledge broker (a role which helps healthcare providers to incorporate research findings into their interactions with patients).

Sharan Rai was diagnosed with lupus as an undergraduate student and is a member of ARC’s Patient Advisory Board. She is also a research assistant at ARC.

Alison and Sharan were invited to speak at Reaching Out with Arthritis Research (ROAR): ‘Does a Google a Day Keep the Doctor Away?’ on November 30, 2013. ROAR is an interactive public forum for patients, healthcare professionals and researchers, which is hosted annually by ARC’s Patient Advisory Board.
