Mini Activity Monitor
Volunteers Needed
We would like your help to answer this question:
Can a popular activity monitor tell apart different positions we assume during daily activities (e.g. sitting, standing, or lying down)?
This study will provide important information for the use of this device in clinical and research settings.
You may be eligible if you are:
- 19 years or older
- Spend less than 2 hours of your day doing physical activities that would increase your heart rate and make you sweat (e.g. walking fast, riding a bike on level ground, pushing a lawn mower)
- Willing to attend an evaluation session at the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH)
What does the study involve?
- Attend a 3-hour session at VGH to: 1) perform 9 light tasks while wearing an activity monitor on your arm, and 2) complete questionnaires about your health. Your weight, height, and hip and waist girth will be measured during the session.
- Wear the activity monitor for 24 hours following the evaluation session and keep an activity log.
