The meeting was held in the Officers Mess at the Presidio in San Francisco. All of the ARC trainees and the UCSF trainees presented their work. The ARC presenters were Nick Bansback, Vidula Bhole, Lynne Feehan, Courtney Kang, Cynthia MacDonald, Mushfiqur Rahman, Chuck Ratzlaff, Winnie Tam, Marie Westby, and Wei Zhang. Each gave a 10 minute talk followed by five minutes for questions. At the end of the first afternoon, everyone went out for a scenic walk along the water to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Currently, scientific meetings are attended by the thousands and sometimes more than ten thousand. There is very little opportunity to interact with colleagues. At these small meetings, the trainees get to interact with faculty from another centre, many overlapping skills; as well as other trainees who are working on similar topics where collaboration is a possibility. It is one of the most exciting meetings for a trainee to attend.
