Allen Lehman

Research Trainee, Education
Dr. Allen Lehman is a health psychology researcher. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine, a Master of Arts in Family Studies from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and a PhD in Educational Studies from UBC. He is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship in health psychology research and Aboriginal health at Simon Fraser University and at the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada. His Family-based Arthritis Health Research program focuses on the impact of arthritis on individuals and their families, as well as quality of care in First Nations people. He recently received funding from the Canadian Arthritis Network and The Arthritis Society, BC & Yukon Division to develop and evaluate a family-based self-management program for Aboriginal Peoples with arthritis.
Allen holds the distinction of being the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada’s first research associate when he joined the Centre in 1997.
Allen co-chairs the Consumer Advisory Board that links the Arthritis Research Centre’s research scientists with people living with arthritis. This innovative approach helps research scientists better address the issue and challenges that are most important to those living with arthritis, while also helping those with the disease learn more about research underway at the Arthritis Research Centre.
Allen has co-authored publications in refereed journals, book chapters and peer reviewed published abstracts, and has been an invited presenter to a wide range of organizations throughout North America. He holds a Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research postdoctoral fellowship.
