RheumTube: The background

Dr. Jolanda Cibere discovered the need for a standardized knee assessment while conducting her research on knee osteoarthritis. These videos are developed based on her research which standardized 42 assessment techniques and evaluated how reliably they can be performed by different examiners. Many of the knee assessment techniques were found to be reliable. These findings have been published in Arthritis & Rheumatism (Cibere J et al. Arthritis Rheum 2004;50:458-68.)

Dr. Cibere and her team also evaluated the use of these standardized knee examinations for identifying early knee osteoarthritis. They found that using four simple questions and three knee examinations, clinicians can reliably diagnose early knee osteoarthritis. The findings of those knee examinations that are essential to early diagnosis of osteoarthritis have been published in Arthritis Care & Research (Cibere J et al. Arthritis Rheum 2010;62:1691-8.)

RheumTube: A video series and learning tool

To increase access to this information, Dr. Cibere, together with Dr. Linda Li, led a team to develop a series of videos which became known as, The RheumTube project. 31 of the most commonly used knee examination techniques assessed to be reliable by Dr. Cibere are described and performed here in the RheumTube video series.  These knee examination videos include:
